How long have you been teaching?
I have been teaching the saxophone and piano since 2007, flute and clarinet since 2014.
What are your credentials?
MM in Multiple Woodwinds Performance & Pedagogy - Ohio University (2016)
MM in Saxophone Performance & Pedagogy – Oklahoma State University (2013)
BM in Saxophone Performance & Pedagogy – Oklahoma City University (2011)
What do you expect from a student?
I have high expectation from each student; no matter if you are preparing for a college audition, high school All-State-Band competition, or just want to play for your own enjoyment. I am very flexible with student’s abilities to improve but there will be no musical and technical growth if the student does not practice outside of the lesson.
How do you monitor student’s progress?
I keep a journal with student’s scales, technical etudes, and the tempos they are progressing at to always keep them challenged and growing. I also often record the student’s lesson so that he/she can review his/her playing and problems we have covered during the lesson.
Do you still perform? Where?
I currently play in Wind Band and Jazz combo at the 300th “Hollywood’s Own” Army Band in Los Angeles, collaborate with the Scottsdale Community College in their Musical Theater productions, as well as play with local bands.
What are your interests outside of music playing?
I absolutely love mountain biking, heavy weights, and trail running.
